Where is the best place in State College Pa to get Neurofeedback?
Brain Advances in State College and Pennsylvania is the only office that offers and certified in Deep Neurofeedback (ISF - Infra Slow Fluctuation), LORETA Neurofeedback, Brain Maps (QEEG’s) and Polyvagal Safe and Sound!
The only office in Pennsylvania certified in Deep Neurofeedback
Deep neurofeedback or Infra-slow Fluctuation Neurofeedback is a powerful (non invasive) brain training that uses EEG equipment to modify brain waves in the inner parts of the brain (mainly the hypothalamus area) Especially helpful for PSU Students, and Faculty, and anyone in the state college area that wants to focus better!

Acute and chronic pain affects more than 20,000 Penn State Students a semester and over 40 million U.S. adults. Pain impacts our mood, quality of life, social interactions, and sleep. Traditionally, medication has been used to help with pain but it is becoming more clear that medication can be addictive and also ineffective in controlling pain.

Pain
New scientific breakthroughs show the close relationship between the brain and the body in pain perception and pain relief. Through maladaptive neural pathways, the brain “learns” to be in pain. Through neurofeedback, the brain can be taught NOT to be in pain.

Higher Functioning
Neurofeedback can help the brain to function better! Neurofeedback Therapy can improve your memory and promote peak performance. Neurofeedback improves focus, reaction time, and emotional regulation, and helps athletes such as Penn State Athletes manage stress by training the brain to operate at its highest level.

Neurofeedback technology has advanced significantly in recent years, offering new ways for individuals and communities to improve mental well-being. By using real-time brainwave monitoring, neurofeedback helps people learn to regulate their own brain activity, which can reduce symptoms of anxiety, ADHD, stress, Pain and sleep disorders. These improvements not only benefit individuals but also strengthen the community as a whole—Penn State students may perform better in school, adults can experience improved focus and emotional balance, and families often report healthier communication and relationships. As neurofeedback becomes more accessible, it empowers communities with non-invasive, drug-free tools that support long-term mental resilience and overall quality of life.

Common Questions

1
WHAT IS A SESSION LIKE?
During a session, we will talk about the symptoms you are experiencing, and discuss the 24-hour report from the previous session, so that we can decide what to do in this session. You will be connected to the biofeedback equipment using water-soluble paste to hold the sensors in place. There is NO electricity or magnetism used. You can put your feet up and relax for the session.
2
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE BEFORE I NOTICE CHANGES?
Every brain is different so the way your brain reacts to neurofeedback is also individualized. Changes start happening during the first session. Most clients notice some changes around 8-12 sessions (some good / some bad). A true commitment to change with deep neurofeedback might take awhile. If someone chooses to start with multiple sessions per week, he/she will notice change faster.
